The Art factor

Drawing didn’t really sink in for me, until I came here to college. I took an Art Appreciation class that opened my eyes to a different side that I haven’t seen yet. I thought that art was just things that were easy on the eyes. Some shocked me and some drew me closer to who I was.

Some of my favorite Artist are Margarita Cabrera, Sandy Skoglund and Takashi Murakami, all showcasing different kinds of art.

Margarita Cabrera and Sandy Skoglund were recently had pieces shown at the McNay Museum.

Margarita had her clay tractor model showed, Arbol de la Vida. It was the one of the most amazing pieces to experience. All the detail she had put into it, and that fact that it was all made of clay, amazing.

Skoglund had her Cocktail Party displayed at the McNay as well. This was my favorite at the time I went to see pieces at the McNay. It’s composed of Cheese Doodles, from the faces of the models and the celling to the floor. It was awesome to see this up close and personal.

Last but not least is Taskashi has worked with Louie Vuitton to create colorful purses with his illustrations and cartoon like artworks. He has also worked with Kanye West to create his album cover and illustrations to go with the album. He is my favorite by far. His colorful project are very bright and in your face.
